The Summit Racing team car club is a CAMS affiliated car club who’s members participate in and support the Off Road Racing discipline of motorsport, throughout South Australia and Victoria. Off Road Racing events are held on private land, and consist of a track made up of farmers tracks, open paddocks and private roads. The terrain ranges from sand to mud, rocks and dirt. Many tracks have man made jumps, whoops and berms. Tracks range in lap distance from 5km to 100km with races competed over distances from 100 to 600km in length.
Off Road Racing is a family sport, with many racing crews made up of family members competing in the family race car, as the races are held on farmers properties in the middle of nowhere, all competitors, crew, officials and spectators camp for the weekend, making the event a very social occasion, and allowing families and supporters to also relax for the weekend away from the normal schedule.
Off Road racing cars range in types as well as value, the top end racing machines are worth in the hundreds of thousands, but at the other end the sport is very affordable, with a basic race car setting you back 10 to 20 thousand dollars. There is a class of race car for everyone’s taste, from purpose built tube framed buggies to standard and modified card and utes in both 2WD and 4WD.
